Overview
A leading food production company in Longford is seeking a Maintenance Engineer to join its on-site engineering team. This is a hands-on role supporting a busy, automated manufacturing operation.
The role will suit a practically minded engineer who enjoys troubleshooting, working closely with production, and keeping the plant running efficiently in a fast-paced environment.
Responsibilities
- Provide mechanical and electrical support to production lines to minimise downtime
- Troubleshoot equipment breakdowns and support line changeovers
- Complete preventative maintenance in line with the planned maintenance schedule
- Work closely with production teams to achieve daily operational targets
- Monitor machine performance and act proactively when issues arise
- Maintain accurate maintenance records and shift handover documentation
- Support safety, hygiene, and compliance standards across the site
- Contribute to engineering improvements and small projects
Criteria
- Trade-qualified Maintenance Engineer (Mechanical, Electrical, or Mechatronics)
- Experience in food, pharma, or high-speed manufacturing environments preferred
- Strong mechanical and electrical fault-finding capability
- Ability to read and understand electrical drawings
- Experience with automated production or packaging machinery
- Familiarity with CMMS systems and preventative maintenance routines
- PLC experience (Siemens S7) an advantage
- A proactive, reliable team player with good communication skills
