Overview
Our client is a fast-growing Irish manufacturer supplying functional beverages, shots, powders, and sachets to global sports nutrition and wellness brands. With a strong reputation for agility and technical capability, they continue to invest heavily in their people, plant, and equipment as the business scales.
They are now seeking a Mechanical Fitter to join their Engineering team on a permanent basis. Reporting to the Maintenance Manager, this hands-on role is central to keeping production running smoothly, minimising downtime, and supporting a culture of continuous improvement across a modern FMCG site.
Responsibilities
- Carry out mechanical maintenance, repair, and fitting work across production and packaging lines
- Diagnose and resolve mechanical breakdowns to minimise disruption to output
- Deliver planned preventative maintenance in line with scheduled programmes
- Align, install, and adjust components such as bearings, gearboxes, pumps, and conveyors
- Assist with changeovers, equipment commissioning, and installation projects
- Collaborate with Operations to keep daily production targets on track
- Maintain accurate maintenance records, work orders, and technical documentation
Criteria
- Time-served or qualified Mechanical Fitter, or equivalent trade background
- Solid mechanical maintenance experience gained in a manufacturing setting
- Comfortable working with bearings, gearboxes, pumps, conveyors, and drive systems
- Able to interpret mechanical drawings and technical manuals
- Strong fault-finding ability with a practical, hands-on approach
- Background in food, beverage, pharma, or similar regulated FMCG environment an advantage
- Welding, fabrication, or pneumatics/hydraulics exposure beneficial
- Familiarity with lean or continuous improvement principles a plus
