Public Relations Executive

The Public Relations Executive will play a key role managing the reputation of the organisation and its members. The PR Executive will work closely with the Director and broader team to deliver the public relations, event management and member publications programme of the organisation in Ireland

This is an exciting role to join a high performing team with high visibility with senior leaders in the organisation and its membership. It is a very busy role, with widely varied tasks, which means no two days are exactly the same.

Main Duties & Key Responsibilities

The successful candidate will carry out the following duties in line with the organisation’s standards and strategic objectives and as directed by the Director.

  • Seek out public relations opportunities across the organisation and its members and engage in proactive media relations with the aim of securing positive coverage
  • Develop PR and communications strategies in support of the organisation and its membership
  • Respond to media queries in a helpful and 100% accurate way that respects journalists’ tight deadlines
  • Act as Secretary to the PR Committee, which involves liaising with the Chair, taking minutes, and completing tasks as required by the Committee
  • Organise Communications Day for members
  • Manage the publication of the Annual Report and provide oversight to the publication of the Annual Directory
  • Provide oversight and assistance with important and major events within the organisation as necessary, including Award Ceremonies
  • Any other duties as assigned by the Director, as and when required

Knowledge & Skills

  • A degree in Communications / Public Relations, or similar third level qualification
  • A minimum of seven years’ experience in public relations, either agency or in-house
  • Successful track record of proactively securing media coverage and building relationships with journalists
  • Exceptional written and oral communication skills
  • Exceptional eye for detail and editing skills
  • A positive, flexible and resourceful attitude is a must
  • Demonstrated ability to communicate complex / technical information in a meaningful way to a lay audience
  • Publication / event management experience is an advantage
