Our client, a leading construction firm based in Cork, is seeking a proactive and commercially minded Construction Buyer to join their growing procurement team. This is an excellent opportunity to shape purchasing strategy, build strong supplier networks, and contribute to major projects across Munster.

Key Responsibilities

• Source, negotiate, and procure materials, plant, and subcontractor services in line with project timelines and budgets.
• Develop and maintain strong relationships with suppliers to ensure competitive pricing and high-quality supply.
• Monitor material usage, lead times, and delivery schedules to support efficient site operations.
• Assess supplier performance and manage approved supplier lists.
• Prepare purchase orders, evaluate quotations, and track costs against project budgets.
• Liaise daily with site managers, project managers, and QS teams to ensure accurate material forecasting.
• Resolve delivery issues, supply shortages, and quality concerns promptly.
• Support continuous improvement in procurement processes and cost‑saving initiatives.

Skills & Experience Required

• Previous experience as a Buyer within the construction sector
• Strong negotiation and supplier‑management skills.
• Excellent organisational ability with strong attention to detail.
• Proficient in MS Office; experience with procurement or construction management software is an advantage.
• Ability to work effectively under pressure and meet tight deadlines.
• Strong communication and teamwork skills, with a solutions‑focused mindset.
