Program Director - Homeless Services

The Program Director has the opportunity and responsibility to achieve the overall strategic direction of the organisation's homeless services division in line with the organisation's strategy for 2025. The Program Director is responsible for the overall management and development of a range of services. While responding to the organisation of the needs of families and individuals who are homeless or at risk of homelessness.


He/she will line manage the leads of the various front line homeless services and will have responsibility for ensuring that these services are focused on achieving the vision of the organisation and on providing a quality service. They will advocate for systemic change to address and eliminate the causes of homelessness. The focus of the role will cover Service Management, Staff Management, Client Participation, Health and Safety and Service Development and liaison.

Main Responsibilities.

  • Work in close cooperation with the CEO and Assistant CEO in setting and delivering the
  • strategic plan for our homeless services
  • Address the needs of people who are homeless and people who are at risk of homelessness
  • Support and manage the leads of these services
  • e continual development of new and appropriate models of services
  • Support and further development of the professional practice of
  • staff involved in the delivery
  • Continually assess risks associated across homeless services and implement controls
  • Keep up to date on relevant legislation and developments
  • Ensure that the necessary administrative and data collection systems are in place
  • Prepare and complete reports as required including reporting on activity levels.


Skills and Qualifications

  • Minimum 5 years People Management experience.
  • Minimum of 5 years working with people who are homeless or other marginalized / or disadvantaged populations.
  • Up to date knowledge and experience of child protection issues.
  • Education- associate degree or higher in Human Services or a related field or equivalent experience is preferred.
  • Management Skills - organisation, excellent communication.
  • Ability to work well with the public and consumers as well as with all support programs staff.
  • Ability to assist with marketing, public relations and problem solving.
  • Must demonstrate knowledge and skills in "not for profit" and human services requirements and regulations.
  • Proficiency in MS Office applications: Word, Outlook, Excel.
