Overview
We are working with a well-established, large-scale food manufacturing business with a strong international footprint to recruit a Maintenance Manager for their site in Co. Waterford.
This is a senior leadership role within a high-volume production environment, responsible for driving maintenance performance, improving plant reliability, and leading a multidisciplinary engineering team. The position offers real scope to influence site performance, implement best practice, and contribute to continuous improvement at an operational level.
Responsibilities
- Lead, manage and develop the site maintenance and engineering team
- Deliver site KPIs across planned maintenance, breakdown response and cost control
- Oversee day-to-day maintenance operations, ensuring minimal disruption to production
- Plan and prioritise both preventative and reactive maintenance activities
- Drive improvements in plant reliability and reduce downtime through proactive strategies
- Manage maintenance budgets and control costs in line with site targets
- Coordinate and manage third-party contractors and service providers
- Support and coach engineers during breakdowns and critical repairs
- Maintain responsibility for all site utilities (electricity, water, air, refrigeration etc.)
- Promote a strong culture of safety, training, and continuous improvement within the team
Criteria
- Trade-qualified (mechanical or electrical) or degree-qualified in Engineering
- Minimum 5 years' experience in maintenance/engineering within manufacturing
- Previous experience leading or managing engineering teams in a fast-paced environment
- Strong organisational and project management capability
- Proven ability to improve maintenance performance and site reliability
- Effective leadership, communication, and team development skills
- Experience working with contractors and managing external service providers
- Food manufacturing experience advantageous but not essential
