Your Role

My client is at an exciting turning point: integrated into a growing European PE business, it is professionally expanding its operational and financial structures for organic and rapid inorganic growth. As Head of Finance, you are the central person who builds out the operational finance and controls backbone and automates operational processes in a scalable way.

You will work directly with the Irish Management team and with the Parent Group. Your task is to build structures that make my clients' Irish business fit for rapidly scaled growth.

Your Responsibilities

Accounting & Financial Statements incl. Taxes

  • Responsibility for the ongoing accounting of the current business and the new companies which will be acquired in due course, the integration of further acquisitions and the preparation of the group consolidation in accordance with the organisations' processes
  • Collaborating with and managing the external parties, who provide support with the transition to company accounting standards and with certain valuation topics
  • Monthly and quarterly financial statement preparation in accordance with group standards (fast close by working day 10) - incl. WIP valuation, IC reconciliations, management accounts etc.
  • Preparing and coordinating interim balance sheets and the annual financial statements
  • Preparing tax returns and VAT statements and submitting them on time

Controlling & Reporting

  • Expanding and maintaining monthly management reporting (private equity financial reporting and operations monitoring) for the management team and parent.
  • Carrying out all operational controlling, including contribution margin accounting
  • Optimising project and service margins through appropriate measures (relieving the CEO/Management)
  • Preparing KPIs and unit economics for the operational steering cockpit (CEO weekly dashboard), proposing and implementing optimisation potential
  • Documenting normalisations and special items and integrating them into reporting

Cash & Liquidity

  • Ensuring cash reporting to HQ
  • Optimising cash collection and driving accounts receivable management
  • Maintaining and monitoring liquidity planning (13-week outlook)

Processes & Automation

  • Adapting and optimising the system landscape for monthly closings, accounts receivable/payable processes, WIP, the service business and HR
  • Responsibility for expanding automated processes with AI and automation solutions (e.g. Make)
  • Process improvements, e.g. introducing and documenting a P2P process for selling and administrative expenses

Team & Interfaces

  • Leading the back office and working directly with the entire Ireland environment as well as the parent, the external parties and the management team
  • Coordinating with parent for group reporting and M&A-relevant financial information, and acting as the primary link for all finance matters between the local companies, current Irish company and the parent group

Your Profile

Professional Qualifications

  • Completed commercial training or degree (business administration, accounting, finance or similar)
  • At least 3-5 years of professional experience in accounting, controlling or finance operations - ideally in an SME in the skilled trades or a services company (Big 4)
  • Solid understanding of Irish and Group accounting standards (HGB) and operational finance processes
  • Experience with system improvements and implementations as well as Windows (esp. Excel)
  • Initial experience with automation platforms and AI tools

  • Hands-on mentality: you take action, solve problems yourself and don't wait for ready-made concepts
  • Structured thinking and enjoyment in documenting processes clearly and comprehensibly
  • High degree of personal responsibility and reliability
  • Willingness to learn digital tools and automation (e.g. Make, Airtable, BI dashboards, Claude)
  • Strong communication skills
  • Resident in the Dublin region or willing to commute regularly
