Mechanical Engineer - Pharma Support (Cork)

Overview

An excellent opportunity for a Mechanical Engineer to support pharmaceutical manufacturing clients across Cork. This role involves providing engineering input on bespoke containment and mechanical solutions, supporting on‑site activities, and ensuring high‑quality project delivery. You will work closely with clients, internal engineering teams, and technical staff to design, install, and support specialised equipment used in GMP environments.


Duties

  • Support clients on‑site, reviewing requirements and proposing suitable mechanical/containment solutions.
  • Participate in concept development, design sketches, and coordination with drafting teams on 3D models.
  • Assist in modifying designs, preparing quotations, and contributing to project documentation and handover packs.
  • Oversee and support installation of mechanical systems and ensure equipment operates to specification.
  • Provide training to client teams on equipment use and best practices.
  • Collaborate with engineering, fitting, and manufacturing teams on project delivery.
  • Contribute to after‑sales support and maintain strong client relationships.
  • Assist with occasional trade show or promotional activities.

Criteria

  • Degree in Mechanical Engineering or related discipline (Level 8 preferred).
  • Experience within pharmaceutical, biotech, medical device, or similar regulated industries is highly desirable.
  • Strong mechanical aptitude with an ability to interpret specifications and develop practical engineering solutions.
  • Proficient in MS Word and Excel; experience with project management tools is an advantage.
  • Strong communication skills and confidence working directly with client teams.
  • Full driving licence (site travel required).
