Overview

A well‑established automotive manufacturing business in the Midlands is expanding its toolroom function and is seeking experienced Toolmakers at both Toolmaker and Senior Toolmaker level.

This is a long‑term opportunity within a modern, high‑volume manufacturing environment, working on press tools, jigs, fixtures and roll‑form tooling for automotive production.

Responsibilities

• Manufacture, service, repair and improve press tools, jigs and fixtures
• Set up and support tools in presses ranging from 50-500 tonnes
• Diagnose tooling‑related issues and attend breakdowns to minimise downtime
• Carry out planned preventative maintenance on tooling and associated equipment
• Use precision measuring equipment to ensure accuracy and tolerances
• Support tooling improvements, modifications and new project introduction
• Adhere to all health, safety, quality and 6S standards

At Senior level, the role also includes:

• Hands‑on leadership within the toolroom
• Mentoring and training of Toolmakers and apprentices
• Greater involvement in new tooling, commissioning and process development

Criteria

• Qualified Toolmaker (Level 4 or equivalent)
• Experience in press tool maintenance and repair
• Strong knowledge of tool setting and fault‑finding in a manufacturing environment
• Experience with aluminium and stainless‑steel tooling is beneficial
• Automotive manufacturing experience is advantageous

• Strong diagnostic capability and broad tooling exposure
• Experience supporting or mentoring others (Senior)
