An exciting opportunity has arisen for an experienced and commercially focused Accountant to join a growing organisation within the logistics and supply chain sector.
This position plays a key role in supporting financial operations, with responsibility for overseeing the financial performance of a core business division. The successful candidate will partner closely with operational stakeholders, ensuring accurate financial reporting, strong cost control, and robust financial governance.
Key Responsibilities
- Manage the financial performance of a key operational division, including revenue and direct cost control.
- Monitor profitability and provide analysis on business performance, trends, risks, and opportunities.
- Prepare and post journals, accruals, and prepayments.
- Perform balance sheet reconciliations and investigate variances.
- Support month-end and year-end close processes.
- Oversee and support accounts payable activities.
- Maintain the accuracy and integrity of financial data within the ERP system.
- Partner with operational teams to ensure accurate allocation of costs and revenues.
- Assist with budgeting, forecasting, and financial planning activities.
- Ensure compliance with internal controls, company policies, and financial procedures.
- Support internal and external audit requirements.
- Identify and implement process improvements to enhance efficiency and reporting accuracy.
Requirements
- Minimum 5 years' experience in a finance, accounting, or accounts payable environment.
- Strong understanding of accounting principles and financial controls.
- Experience working with SAP or a comparable ERP system.
- Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills.
- Strong commercial awareness with the ability to interpret and communicate financial information.
- Advanced Microsoft Excel skills.
- High level of attention to detail and accuracy.
- Ability to manage competing priorities and meet deadlines.
- Strong communication and stakeholder management skills.
- Self-motivated, adaptable, and capable of working in a fast-paced environment.
