Overview
A long-established food manufacturing business based in North West Dublin is looking to add an experienced Maintenance Fitter to its engineering team. This is a well-known name in the Irish food sector, offering genuine job security and a stable, structured working environment for the right candidate.
Reporting into the maintenance function, you'll play a central role in keeping a high-speed production facility running, primarily through reactive maintenance and fault-finding, with some planned work and small projects thrown in along the way.
Responsibilities
- Carry out reactive maintenance and troubleshooting across a range of production equipment
- Handle predominantly mechanical repairs (c. 90% of the role), with some electrical fault-finding (c. 10%)
- Complete basic welding tasks (ARC and TIG) as required
- Respond promptly to breakdowns to minimise production downtime
- Liaise with production and other departments to prioritise work effectively
- Maintain accurate documentation and records for all work carried out
- Participate in ongoing training and skills development
- Demonstrate flexibility across shifts and duties, including occasional Saturday cover on a rota basis
Criteria
- Time-served mechanical fitter or equivalent trade qualification
- Proven experience in a fast-paced manufacturing setting; FMCG/food background a strong advantage
- Confident working mainly on mechanical systems, with some electrical exposure
- Basic ARC/TIG welding ability
- Strong problem-solving skills and ability to work independently
- Flexible, hands-on approach
