Overview


A well-established food manufacturing business in Longford is seeking an Electrical Maintenance Technician to join its engineering function. This is a key role within a highly automated production environment, focused on maintaining equipment reliability, resolving electrical issues, and supporting continuous production performance.

Working closely with operations and engineering colleagues, you will play an important role in ensuring plant and machinery operate safely, efficiently, and with minimal disruption. Please note this role is 12 hour rotating days and nights.


Responsibilities

  • Respond to electrical faults across production and packaging equipment, ensuring downtime is kept to a minimum.
  • Diagnose and rectify issues involving motors, drives, sensors, control panels, and automation systems.
  • Carry out planned preventative maintenance activities on electrical and electro-mechanical equipment.
  • Support the operation and optimisation of automated manufacturing lines.
  • Assist with machine commissioning, upgrades, and engineering improvement projects.
  • Perform routine inspections to identify potential failures before they impact production.
  • Work collaboratively with production teams to maximise equipment availability and plant performance.
  • Update maintenance records, reports, and asset information accurately through the maintenance management system.
  • Ensure all work is completed in line with site safety procedures, food safety standards, and statutory requirements.
  • Contribute ideas and initiatives aimed at improving reliability, efficiency, and energy performance across the facility.

Criteria

  • Qualified Electrician or Electrical Technician with a recognised trade certification.
  • Previous experience within manufacturing, food production, FMCG, pharmaceutical, or other process-driven environments.
  • Strong electrical fault-finding and diagnostic skills.
  • Experience working with industrial control systems, motors, inverters, relays, and instrumentation.
  • Ability to read and interpret electrical schematics and technical documentation.
  • Exposure to PLC-controlled machinery, with troubleshooting experience highly desirable.
  • Familiarity with preventative maintenance systems and engineering best practices.
  • Knowledge of automated production, packaging, or process equipment would be an advantage.
  • Self-motivated, safety-conscious, and capable of working effectively as part of a team.
