Overview

We are currently working with an established and highly respected FMCG manufacturer in County Meath and are seeking to recruit a skilled Maintenance Fitter to join their engineering team on a permanent day‑shift schedule.

Reporting to the Maintenance Manager, you'll play a key role in ensuring smooth plant operations, minimising downtime, and supporting continuous improvement across the site.

Responsibilities

• Provide technical support across production machinery, equipment maintenance, installations, and modifications.
• Carry out preventative and reactive maintenance, fault‑finding, calibrations, and troubleshooting.
• Manage work orders efficiently and accurately through the site's maintenance management system.
• Support maintenance planning, scheduling, and continuous improvement initiatives.
• Respond to production breakdowns, conduct root‑cause analysis, and implement long‑term solutions.
• Uphold high standards of safety, compliance, Good Manufacturing Practices (GMP), and site procedures.
• Collaborate with production, engineering, and management teams to deliver consistent operational performance.

Criteria

• Fully qualified Fitter (or equivalent trade qualification).
• 3-5 years' maintenance experience within an FMCG, manufacturing, or similar high‑volume environment.
• Strong mechanical fault‑finding skills; electrical experience is a distinct advantage.
• Exposure to high‑speed packaging equipment, pumps, or large‑scale mechanical systems beneficial.
• Comfortable working autonomously as well as part of a wider engineering team.
• Computer literacy essential; experience with CMMS systems an advantage.
• High attention to detail, strong communication skills, and a proactive approach to problem‑solving.
