Maintenance Team Leader

Overview

An established, high‑volume processing and production operation is seeking an experienced Maintenance Team Leader to oversee a busy engineering function. This role is ideal for someone who enjoys leading from the front-balancing hands‑on maintenance with team leadership, problem‑solving, and driving continuous improvement.

This position operates on a 2‑shift rotating pattern (Days & Evenings) and a 5/7 working pattern, totalling 39 hours per week.

Responsibilities

• Lead, support, and mentor a team of maintenance technicians.
• Carry out hands‑on mechanical and technical maintenance to maximise plant uptime.
• Plan and coordinate preventative and corrective maintenance activities.
• Implement improvements that enhance operational efficiency and equipment performance.
• Maintain a safe and compliant working environment in line with internal and external standards.
• Organise and communicate weekly maintenance rotas.
• Ensure strong collaboration with operations, quality, and health & safety departments.
• Maintain accurate maintenance records, inventory monitoring, and equipment performance data.
• Support budget control, cost management, and identification of improvement opportunities.
• Ensure all safety procedures, protocols, and policies are strictly adhered to.

Criteria

• Proven experience in a supervisory or team-leading role within a manufacturing, engineering, or high‑volume processing environment.
• A relevant craft apprenticeship or technical qualification with 3 years' team leadership experience.
• Strong mechanical and technical troubleshooting ability.
• Working knowledge of QHSE standards and compliance.
• Proficient in maintenance reporting and basic IT applications.
• Ability to coach, mentor, and develop team members.
• Excellent communication skills and the ability to work under pressure while prioritising effectively.
• Experience in a similar processing or industrial environment is an advantage.
